Simplified Wreck Survey

Underwater Wreck and Obstruction Survey Details Near the Strait of Gibraltar at Coordinates 36 7.837 N, 5 23.013 W. Historical hydrographic survey records note a submerged shipwreck identified as HMS Hecla located on a slope with a least depth of 113 meters measured by echosounder in a general depth of 116 meters, standing 10.7 meters above the seabed. Later hydrographic surveys in 1980 reported no echosounder contact at this position, and a 1989 survey by HMS Roebuck identified a nearby rock outcrop, reclassifying the geological feature as dead.
