Simplified Wreck Survey

Underwater wreck survey details for a site located off the coast of Kent in the English Channel near the Goodwin Sands at coordinates 51 13.455 N, 1 26.896 E. This underwater obstruction, identified in UK Hydrographic Office records, was most recently examined in 2000 using DGPS. The wreck is identified as a small mound, almost entirely buried, with physical dimensions measuring 41 meters in length and 7.5 meters in width. Survey data indicates a least echo sounder depth of 13.9 meters within a general water depth of 14.3 meters. A scour area is present, measuring 0.8 meters deep, extending 74 meters toward 350 degrees and 243 meters toward 170 degrees from the wreck. A detected sonar height of 7 meters is attributed to fishing gear snagged on the structure rather than the wreck itself. No magnetic anomaly was recorded at this position. While previous historical data suggested a wreck at this location, a 2019 multibeam survey failed to relocate the obstruction, leading to its classification as dead or non-existent in modern datasets. Historical references include chart notations of a 13.6-meter wreck at these coordinates.
