Wreck details for MTB 218 located at coordinates 51 6.535 N, 1 36.896 E off the coast of Suffolk, England in the North Sea. This underwater obstruction, historically recorded as the wreckage of the MTB 218, was reported sunk on 18 August 1942 in the vicinity of the No.2 buoy. Despite historical records, multiple modern survey attempts have failed to confirm the presence of the wreck at this site. A search conducted by HMS Myrmidon in 1965 reported a general depth of 120 feet with several bottom echoes but no definitive wreck structure. Subsequent sonar sweeps by HMS Beagle in 1971 and further investigations using multibeam sonar and magnetometer by OSAE in 2007 failed to locate the vessel, leading to the wreck status being amended to dead. No structural remains such as welded steel or well broken debris have been identified in the area, suggesting the site is now clear of the underwater obstruction originally noted.
