Simplified Wreck Survey
The wreck known as the MOUCHE is historically recorded at approximate coordinates 49 36 N, 5 45 W, situated in the English Channel waters off the coast of France. While historical survey data once identified this location for filing purposes, subsequent hydrographic investigations have fundamentally altered its status. In 1976, HMS Hecla utilized sidescan sonar sweep technology to search the area but failed to locate any submerged structural remains. A further, more rigorous search conducted in 1989 using DCS3 equipment definitively disproved the existence of the wreck at these coordinates. Due to these unsuccessful search operations, the wreck of the MOUCHE has been officially classified as a dead entry in hydrographic records, indicating that no physical obstruction or welded steel wreck debris exists at this position. Previous reported coordinates for the vessel, including 49 37 N, 4 21 W and 49 33 N, 4 34 W, have also been investigated and remain unverified.
