Circumstances of loss

BUILT IN 1972. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY ITALMARE SOCIETA PER AZIONI. PASSAGE ANTWERP FOR HOUSTON. WAS ABANDONED BY 30 MAN CREW AFTER SERIOUS LEAKAGE IN A HOLD DURING STORM-FORCE 10 WINDS AND VERY HEAVY SEAS OFF THE NW COAST OF SPAIN. A SEARCH WAS CONDUCTED FOR SURVIVORS FROM THE VESSEL, BUT EVEN THOUGH LIFERAFTS WERE SPOTTED, NO CREWMEN COULD BE LOCATED. SANK LATER THE SAME DAY.
