The wreck was originally reported sunk on December 19, 1984, following an incident on December 10, 1984. Subsequent hydrographic surveys and reports from vessels including the MV Swift Trader and MV Celtic Ambassador documented the wreckage with visible masts. Over time, the charted coordinates were updated, and temporary navigational markings, including an isolated danger buoy flashing Fl(2) 10s, were established and later removed by the Gambia Ports Authority. The final verified position for the underwater obstruction is latitude 13° 28.1' N, longitude 15° 37.9' W, situated off the coast of Gambia.
