8.9.77 VESSEL, BUILT 1960 BY ZAANLANDER SCHPS. MAATS., ZAANDAM. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA. CAUGHT FIRE ON 8.9.77 WHILE AT MERAK. TO SAVE WHARF FROM BLAZE VESSEL WAS TAKEN IN TOW BUT LISTED & SANK THE FOLLOWING DAY. WAS EVENTUALLY RAISED IN NOV'78 & ANCHORED WITH 70DEGS LIST TO PORT IN SAME POSN WITH INTENTION TO TOW TO TANJUNG PRIOK, BUT SANK AGAIN IN BAD WEATHER IN DEC'78. FURTHER SALVAGE ATTEMPTS WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. (MSD).
