Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck of the J P Rennoldson is an underwater obstruction located off the coast of the River Tees estuary, near the North Gare Breakwater. Its position is recorded at coordinates 54 39.008 N, 1 9.098 W. Historical survey records indicate that the vessel was largely salvaged by the Middlesbrough Salvage Company, leaving behind scattered wreckage including a boiler, engine parts, and various steel plates and angle irons. Early surveys noted the boiler stood approximately 3.5 feet and engine remains reached 5 feet above the Lowest Astronomical Tide (LWOST). While the site was once reported to dry to 6 feet, subsequent hydrographic investigations conducted between 1977 and 2018, including Royal Navy aerial photography and modern multibeam sonar datasets, have failed to locate any visible remains of the J P Rennoldson. Consequently, the wreck is currently classified with No Further Action required, as it is no longer detected at the charted position.

BOILER STANDS 3.5FT & PART OF ENGINE STANDS ABOUT 5FT ABOVE LWOST. SITUATED NEAR END OF SLAG WHICH EXTENDS SEWARD FROM N GARE BREAKWATER. (TEES CONSERVANCY, 20.12.29). INS AS ST. NE 2567.
