The shipwreck known as the Hosanger is a historical maritime site located off the coast of Scotland in the North Sea near the Moray Firth at coordinates 58 24.979 N, 1 53.104 W. Originally recorded as a sunken vessel of World War II significance, the site was historically designated as a wreck of unknown structural condition with a depth of 70 meters. Following extensive research and hydrographic surveys, documentation referencing the U-20 and subsequent multibeam sonar investigations led to the conclusion that the previously charted position was incorrect. Despite historical records suggesting its presence, the wreck of the Norwegian SS Hosanger has been officially disproved at these coordinates and the entry is now classified as dead in the official UK Hydrographic Office records. Current maritime data confirms that the wreckage previously associated with this location was not located during modern sonar scanning, and the site is no longer considered an active underwater obstruction.

WKS USC PA 70MTRS [TO COVER 'FREDENSBORG' & 'ENGLAND'] IN 5825.00N, 0153.00W TO REMAIN CHARTED UNTIL DISPROVED BY SURVEY. 26.11.12 26.11.12 NOT LOCATED BY M/B. DISPROVED. (P ROBERTSON, HI 1372 REPLY TO APPRAISAL DTD 21.11.12). AMEND DEAD.
