BUILT IN 1939 BY CAMMEL LAIRD. TURBINE ENGINES OF 45,000 FOR 36.5KTS. ONE OF 4 SHIPS WHICH SAILED FROM ALEXANDRIA TO HUNT AN ENEMY CONVOY. ATTACKED BY GERMAN JU-88 AIRCRAFT AND HIT WHILE STEAMING AT FULL SPEED. TURNED OVER AND SANK IN FOUR MINUTES. 65 MEN LOST. (DODS).
