BUILT IN 1939 BY FAIRFIELD SB CO LTD. THREE DRUM BOILERS, TURBINE ENGINES OF 40,000 SHP FOR 36KTS. WAS ON CONVOY DUTY SW OF CRETE WHEN ATTACKED AND BOMBED BY AIRCRAFT CAUSING VITAL DAMAGE. SHE WAS EVENTUALLY SUNK BY SHIPS IN COMPANY. THERE WERE 200 SURVIVORS. (DODS).
