The Higane Maru shipwreck is an underwater obstruction located in the South China Sea off the coast of Sabah, Malaysia, approximately 25 miles west of Jesselton (Kota Kinabalu). The wreckage rests at coordinates 6 27.66 N, 116 13.77 E. Surveyed as a badly collapsed wreck site, it lies in a general water depth of 38 meters with a minimum depth over the structure of 27 meters. While identified as the Higane Maru, records indicate it may also be the Hiyore Maru or Kokusei Maru. The site is characterized by significant structural collapse and is frequently marked by local fisherman's floats. Navigation charts list the obstruction as a wreck at a depth of 25 meters.
