Simplified Wreck Survey

The shipwreck of the Goodwill Merchant is located at coordinates 59 59.63 N, 1 20.717 W in the waters off the coast of northern Scotland. The vessel ran aground on January 21, 1976, and subsequently sank stern down with only its mast initially visible. The wreck is completely smashed to pieces under cliffs in general depths of 9 to 27 meters. The propeller and ship's bell were recovered in the late 1980s.

BUILT IN 1962 BY E J SMIT & ZN'S SCHEEPS, WESTERBROEK, WITH 8 CYLINDER OIL ENGINE OF 116BHP, SINGLE SHAFT. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY A C HOFF, ROTTERDAM. PASSAGE GRANGEMOUTH FOR LERWICK. RAN AGROUND ON NESS OF IRELAND, 2M N OF ST NINIAN'S ISLE. CREW OF 8 RESCUED. (SIBI).
