Simplified Wreck Survey

The Calf Sound shipwreck is an underwater obstruction located off the coast of Scotland in the Pentland Firth area at coordinates 58 44.705 N, 2 29.454 W. Originally reported after sinking in October 1989, the site was comprehensively examined in May 2007 using differential GPS. The intact, upright wreck lies on a seabed of sand in a general depth of 72 meters, with a least multibeam depth over the obstruction recorded at 63.1 meters. Structural dimensions of the wreck measure 43.8 meters in length, 8.6 meters in width, and 8.6 meters in height, oriented along a 151/331 degree axis with its bow facing south-southeast. A distinct drag line measuring approximately 250 meters long and 0.4 meters deep extends southeast from the wreck site.
