Simplified Wreck Survey

Underwater Wreck Details: Pig Iron Barge off the English Channel Coast at Coordinates 50 31.58 N, 0 39.307 W. This historic underwater obstruction was initially located in 1976 and later positively identified in 1984 as a pig iron barge. Comprehensive hydrographic examinations up to 2018 using modern multibeam sonar confirm the intact wreck lies oriented in an east-west direction at roughly 098/278 degrees. The site features a least echo sounder and multibeam depth of approximately 25.56 meters resting within a general surrounding depth of 28 to 30 meters. Structural dimensions measure approximately 30.9 meters in length, 10.8 meters in width, and a height of 2.9 meters with no surrounding scour.
