Simplified Wreck Survey

Underwater obstruction survey report for the wreckage located at coordinates 51 18.917 N, 1 25.138 E. This obstruction is situated off the coast of the English Channel near the Strait of Dover. Historical survey data from the UK Hydrographic Office (H2538/79) indicates that a barge was previously identified and monitored at this site. Initial reports from 1986 recorded a least echo sounder depth of 0.6 meters within a general water depth of 6.6 meters. The wreck was historically marked by a North Cardinal light buoy and a Racon (D) signal to ensure maritime safety during salvage operations. Following salvage efforts in late 1986, the barge was successfully raised, and all navigational buoys were withdrawn. A comprehensive multibeam survey conducted in June 2019 confirmed that the obstruction is no longer present at this location, and no further action is required. This site is now considered clear for maritime navigation.
