Circumstances of loss
BUILT OF WOOD AND RIGGED AS A SHIP. WAS LATER REDUCED TO A BARQUE. PASSAGE NEWPORT FOR SANTOS. BECAME UNMANAGEABLE IN A HEAVY SQUALL. WAS TAKEN IN TOW BY THE TUG PRINCESS MAY BUT SOON BROKE LOOSE AND DRIFTED INTO THE SURF WHERE SHE BROKE UP. (CORNISH SHIPWRECKS VOL 2).
