BUILT IN 1970 BY 'ASTRANO', ASTILLEROS Y TALLERES DEL NOROESTE, S.A. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY MARITIMA ANTARES, S.A. PASSAGE BUCHANAN, LIBERIA FOR GIJON. EMERGENCY SHUT-OFF VALVE TO GASOIL SERVICE TANK INADVERTENTLY CLOSED JUST AS VESSEL WAS ALTERING COURSE, HAVING JUST LEFT LAS PALMAS. ALL ELECTRICAL POWER WAS LOST AND VESSEL GROUNDED ON A WESTERLY HEADING. ALL SUBSEQUENT REFLOATING ATTEMPTS FAILED.VESSEL WAS SOLD FOR DEMOLITION IN SITU TO TENERIFE SHIPBREAKER. (MSD).
