27.3.80 CAPSIZED IN STORMY SEAS WHEN ONE OF THE 5 SUPPORT LEGS BROKE OFF ON 27.3.80 WHILE IN THE EKOFISK OIL FIELD, NORTH SEA. WAS TOWED TO BOKNAFJORD, NEAR STAVANGER, WHERE UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO RIGHT IT. WAS EVENTUALLY RIGHTED & TOWED TO A DUMPING GROUND IN NEDSTRANDSFJORDEN & SCUTTLED ON 18.11.83. (MSD) WHEN COMPLETE THIS STRUCTURE HAD MAX DRAUGHT OF 35MTRS & SUPPORTED A 51.2MTRS DERRICK. PHOTOGRAPHS OF SCUTTLING INDICATE THAT THIS DERRICK HAD UPPER SECTION MISSING WHEN RIG WAS SUNK.
