Simplified Wreck Survey

The shipwreck known as W.H.L. is located off the coast of Portland Bill in the English Channel at coordinates 50 26.035 N, 2 22.079 W. Sunk in 1918 approximately 8 miles south-southeast of Portland Light, the site has a history of historical hydrographic surveys and sonar investigations dating back to 1928. Although military vessels and survey ships such as HMS Tyrian and HMS Scott have investigated the area over the decades, subsequent close-range sonar examinations found nothing, leading to the wreck being amended to dead on navigational charts.
