Circumstances of loss
BUILT IN 1944 IN GLASGOW. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY COMEX INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION. FOUNDERED IN PORT GENTIL ROADS DURING A VIOLENT STORM HAVING BEEN MOORED THER FOR FOR ALMOST A YEAR, UNMANNED. ONLY A FORTNIGHT LATER A TWO METER LAYER OF SILT HAD FORMED IN HER HOLDS. THE COST OF SALVAGE WAS FAR IN EXCESS OF HER VALUE SO THE WRECK WAS BLOWN UP WITH EXPLOSIVES. (MSD).
