BUILT IN 1955 BY A G 'WESER' WERK SDDBECK, BREMERHAVEN. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY THE SHIPPING CORPORATION OF INDIA. SERIOUSLY DAMAGED BY EXTERNAL EXPLOSION WHILE ON PASSAGE TO CALCUTTA. CAPSIZED AND SANK AFTER BEING ABANDONED BY CREW. EXPLOSION CONSIDERED TO HAVE BEEN DUE TO A FLOATING MINE.
