Simplified Wreck Survey

The shipwreck UNGGUL I is located at coordinates 3.0900 N, 98.7500 E near the coast of Belawan, North Sumatra, Indonesia. The vessel sank in 9 meters of water approximately 400 meters from the outer buoy of the Belawan Port fairway. Originally reported in June 1986, this underwater obstruction remains a recognized hazard to navigation in the region. Recent hydrographic data indicates the wreck is not currently displayed on official Indonesian nautical charts. This underwater wreck serves as a permanent maritime obstacle for vessels transiting the busy approach channels to the port of Belawan.
