UK Hydrographic Office survey records for the underwater wreck known possibly as U 246, located off the southwest coast of England near Plymouth, at coordinates 49 58.036 N, 5 25.16 W. Historical military and sonar contacts dating from 1945 by HMS Duckworth and Plymouth authorities recorded structural descriptions including lengths between 175 and 230 feet, heights of 24 to 30 feet, and a breadth of 75 feet, with orientations on headings around 045 and 220 degrees. Later salvage and multibeam sonar surveys conducted in 1974 and 2016 noted that the wreck was not located, leading to its classification as dead or non-dangerous, though historical positioning places this submerged obstruction in the approaches to Plymouth.
