VESSEL, BUILT IN 1918 BY J.BLUMER & CO. AND OWNED AT THE TIME OF LOSS BY MURRELL S.S. CO., WAS SUNK 19M OFF THE LONGSHIPS WHILST EN-ROUTE FROM TAKOPADI TO WORKINGTON. REPORTED TO HAVE STRUCK A MINE ALTHOUGH MAY HAVE BEEN TORPEDOED BY A GERMAN SUBMARINE. ALL 34 CREW LOST. (LL WW2, DODS & SHIPWRECK INDEX OF THE BRITISH ISLES). TORPEDOED BY U29 APPROX 32 MILES NW OF TREVOSE HEAD, 34 LOST INCLUDING MASTER, 3 RESCUED BY SS MOYLE. (WWW.UBOAT.NET).
