Simplified Wreck Survey

Underwater wreck site located at coordinates 52 7.488 N, 1 49.482 E off the coast of Norfolk in the North Sea. This historic shipwreck is identified as the remains of an intact steel cargo ship lying upright on the seabed. Latest hydrographic survey data from 2017 confirms the wreck measures 61.4 meters in length and 14.3 meters in width. The vessel stands 6.2 meters high with an orientation of 162/342 degrees. The least multibeam depth over the obstruction is recorded at 23.78 meters within a general water depth of 30 meters. Scour patterns measuring 101.7 meters in length and 1.78 meters deep are present at the site. Previous investigations identified the wreck as a cargo ship with a central bridge and a potential gun platform at the stern, evidenced by the discovery of anti-aircraft shell cases. The site also exhibits a magnetic anomaly.

TWO BOILERS, TRIPLE EXPANSION ENGINE OF 390HP, SINGLE SHAFT. MACHINERY BY D ROWAN & CO, GLASGOW. PASSAGE THE TYNE FOR LONDON. CARGO COAL. STRUCK A MINE AND COMMENCED TO SINK RAPIDLY. WAS TAKEN IN TOW BUT SANK. CREW RECOVERED.
