Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck of the Petshenga possibly is located off the coast of East Anglia in the United Kingdom at coordinates 52 8.551 N, 1 49.936 E. Originally located by sonar in 1943 and surveyed extensively by hydrographic vessels over the decades, this substantial underwater obstruction lies upright and mostly intact on the seabed. Modern multibeam surveys record the wreck at a least depth of 22.58 meters within a general surrounding depth of 29 meters. The structural dimensions of the wreck measure approximately 102.8 meters in length, 24.62 meters in width, and a height of 7.7 meters, resting with an orientation of 063/243 degrees. Historical diving and sonar reports describe the wreck as featuring a largely intact center section, a broken bow listing to port, large winches, and a scour length of 150.62 meters surrounding the hull.
