Simplified Wreck Survey

The shipwreck RUTH is located off the coast of East Anglia in the North Sea near Lowestoft at coordinates 52 33.527 N, 1 53.889 E. Historical hydrographic surveys note that the vessel sank near the South Cross Sand Buoy. Initial positioning from 1918 placed the wreck in the area before being updated to approximately 52 33.530 N, 01 54.000 E, with a recorded depth of 15 meters. Subsequent intensive archaeological and hydrographic search operations conducted in 1982 by HMS Bulldog using Hydrosearch sonar, as well as modern multibeam bathymetry data collection by Gardline in 2016 and 2017, found no trace of the obstruction within a 600-meter radius, resulting in the wreck being marked as not located and non-existent in modern datasets.
