Circumstances of loss

VESSEL, BUILT 1972, WHILST EN-ROUTE GOTHENBURG TO LEIXOS WITH BULK CARGO IN HOLDS AND A DECK CARGO OF CONTAINERS, WAS ABANDONED BY CREW AFTER CARGO SHIFTED DURING VIOLENT STORM, CAUSING VESSEL TO LIST AND TAKE IN WATER WHEN IN THE BAY OF BISCAY. THE TWO DINGHYS WERE NOT LOCATED UNTIL TWO DAYS LATER, SEVERAL CREW MEMBERS HAD DIED OF EXPOSURE. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY T. SCHEPERS & SOHNE.
