The underwater wreck site identified as the RIVER AVON (POSSIBLY) is located off the coast of Fife, Scotland, near Fifeness at coordinates 56 15.628 N, 2 35.591 W. Historical records indicate the vessel originally ran ashore on Kilminning Rock, approximately 0.75 miles southwest of Fifeness. Despite initial reports of wreckage in the area, subsequent hydrographic surveys conducted in 1994 by Oceonics (UK) Ltd and in 2008 by Gardline Hydro using multibeam sonar failed to locate any structural remains of a steel hull or wreckage at this position. The site remains officially classified as not located by survey, and no physical obstructions have been confirmed at these coordinates.
