BUILT 1925 BY PATTISON WITH TURBINE ENGINES OF 36,000 SHP & THORNYCROFT BOILERS. WAS TORPEDOED OFF VENICE BY A GERMAN MOTOR TORPEDO BOAT. VESSEL HAD BEEN ON HER WAY TO SURRENDER TO THE ALLIES AS ITALY HAD CEASED HOSTILITIES THE PREVIOUS DAY. (DODS)
