Simplified Wreck Survey
UK Hydrographic Office wreck records show the shipwreck PENROSE located at coordinates 50 6.203 N, 5 28.657 W off the coast of Cornwall. Initially sinking in December 1999, the intact wreck was found resting on a flat sand and shale seabed at a depth of 27 meters at high water, with an estimated depth of 20 meters to the top of the wreck, and was temporarily marked by a large orange buoy. Following ownership confirmation and salvage planning, the wreck was successfully recovered in two stages during March 2000 using divers and the vessel Cornishman, with the keel, gearbox, shaft, engine, deadwood, and wheelhouse all successfully brought to the surface. Subsequent hydrographic examinations and multibeam surveys confirmed that no structural remains of the wreck are left on the seabed.

SECOND ATTEMPT ON 17.3.00 RECOVERED THE ENGINE, DEADWOOD AND WHEELHOUSE COMPLETE. CONFIRMED BY MASTER OF CORNISHMAN. DCS3 EXAMINATION OF THE AREA SHOWS NO EVIDENCE OF THE WK REMAINS.
