THE VESSEL WAS BUILT AS THE 'FANGTURM' AND LATER RENAMED 'EMPIRE GALLOP' WHEN IT WAS INTERNED DURING WW11. AFTERWARDS IT WAS RETURNED TO THE GERMANS AND RENAMED 'PALMYRA'. IDENTIFIED BY BELL BEARING NAME 'EMPIRE GALLOP'. (R V MARTIN 27.2.95 & THE EMPIRE SHIPS). 'PALMYRA' OWNED AT THE TIME OF LOSS BY BOCK, GODEFFROY & CO. PASSAGE HAMBURG FOR ISTANBUL. SANK AFTER A COLLISION WITH THE `BRITISH MARINER' ABOUT 20M OFF USHANT. (R V MARTIN, DODS).
