Simplified Wreck Survey

Underwater wreck obstruction located off the coast of the Moray Firth in Scotland at coordinates 57 49.932 N, 3 32.988 W. This submerged feature was historically identified as an isolated rock or small wreck, potentially HMS Echo, with a recorded least echo sounder depth of 34.4 meters over a seabed composed of small stones and broken shell. While historical surveys identified a potential hazard at this location, a subsequent 2008 multibeam survey failed to relocate the original wreck, resulting in it being disproved as a navigation hazard. However, a separate seabed feature was identified in the immediate vicinity at 57 49.9062 N, 0332.9062 W with a least depth of 33.72 meters and a height of 0.9 meters. Mariners and researchers should note that this site is classified as a disproved wreck position, though seabed features remain present in this sector of the Moray Firth.
