Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck Orion is an underwater obstruction located off the coast of the United Kingdom at coordinates 51 31.244 N, 4 9.22 W. Originally sinking in the area approximately, the site was later surveyed and located in 1983. The wreck lies at a least echo sounder depth of 22.9 to 23.8 meters within a general surrounding depth of 28 meters, showing no seabed scour. Historical hydrographic surveys identified the obstruction as the motor fishing vessel MFV Orion, oriented with its bow facing east and featuring a small deckhouse on the forward section. Subsequent surveys in 1988 updated its exact position using trispnder navigation. However, a multibeam survey conducted in September 2017 failed to locate the structure, leading to the wreck status being amended to dead or removed.

H3840/86 20.2.89 EXAM'D 8.6.88 IN 513113N, 040909W [OGB] USING TRISPONDER [4 LOP]. LEAST E/S DEPTH 23.8 IN GEN DEPTH 28MTRS. NO SCOUR. DCS3 HT 2.3MTRS, LENGTH ABOUT 20MTRS. LIES 000/180 DEG. (HMS BEAGLE, HI 359). AMEND POSN. BR STD. SEP 2017/000199013 23.1.18 NOT LOCATED BY M/B SURVEY. (GARDLINE, HI1502). AMEND DEAD.
