Simplified Wreck Survey
The wreck of the vessel NAGRO is officially listed at coordinates 51 12.034 N, 1 35.496 E, located off the coast of the Goodwin Sands in the English Channel. Historical records indicate the vessel sank near the East Goodwin Light Vessel. Despite extensive survey efforts over several decades, including multibeam echosounder surveys conducted by CEFAS in 2014 and Gardline in 2017-2018, the NAGRO has not been located on the seabed. Previous investigations by the Royal Navy vessel HMS Beagle also failed to identify the wreck using magnetometers and sonar, leading authorities to amend the wreck status to dead or non-existent in the area. Early reports from 1972 documented the recovery of wreckage, a lifeboat, and the wheelhouse roof, suggesting that if any remains exist, they are likely heavily dispersed. The site is currently classified as NFA or No Further Action required, as no underwater obstruction has been confirmed at these geographical coordinates.
