EX-HELGA. BUILT IN 1908 BY DUBLIN DOCKYARD CO, DUBLIN. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY THE IRISH GOVERNMENT. ONE BOILER, TWIN TRIPLE EXPANSION ENGINES OF 1390 HP, TWIN SHAFT. MACHINERY BY R ROWAN & CO, GLAGOW. WAS BUILT FOR FISHERIES PROTECTION WORK WITH THE DEPT OF AGRICULTURE & TECHNICHAL INSTRUCTION FOR IRELAND. REQUISITIONED AT THE OUTBREAK OF WW1 AS AN ARMED PATROL YACHT. FITTED WITH 1 X 12PDR & 1 X 3PDR GUNS. SANK A GERMAN SUBMARINE IN THE IRISH SEA IN APRIL 1919. SOLD BACK TO THE IRISH GOVERMENT IN 1922 AND REMAINED A FISHERY PROTECTION VESSEL UNTIL THE LATE 1940S. SANK WHILE UNDER TOW TO HAULBOWLINE WHERE SHE WAS TO BROKEN UP BY HAMMOND LANE LTD. CREW RECOVERED BY A WELSH TRAWLER. (SII).
