VESSEL, BUILT 1939 BY NEDERLANDSCHE DOK MAATS., AMSTERDAM. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY PIERMAY SHIPPING CO.. ON PASSAGE FROM RAVENNA TO APAPA/LAGOS. HAD MACHINERY BREAKDOWN AND RAN AGROUND NEAR CAPO ESPARTEL, CAUSING THE HULL TO FRACTURE. CARGO INCLUDED DRUMS OF DANGEROUS CHEMICALS. CREW SAFE. DECLARED A CONSTRUCTIVE TOTAL LOSS. (DODS & LLOYDS VOL.222).
