Simplified Wreck Survey
The Margaret Rae is an underwater shipwreck located off the east coast of Scotland in the North Sea at coordinates 56 34.072 N, 2 22.36 W. Originally catching fire and sinking after anchoring to the seabed by its trawls in July 1999, the wreck was examined using DGPS in January 2008. The site features a small, highly degraded wreck with a least multibeam depth of 49.8 meters in a general depth of 55.4 meters. The structural dimensions of the remains are 14 meters in length, 8 meters in width, and a height of 5.6 meters, accompanied by a 0.5-meter-deep scour extending 10 meters towards 140 degrees. Banks of sediment extend approximately 20 meters northeast and southwest from either end of the wreck, with minor scouring on the southeast side and possible fishing gear located on the structure.
