Simplified Wreck Survey
The wreck of the vessel MAK H-1 is located at coordinates 11 59 N, 67 37.5 W near the Ave de Sotavento reef in the Caribbean Sea. Following a grounding incident in August 1991, the vessel sustained significant bottom damage while hard aground on the coral reef at the southeast tip of the Ave de Sotavento. The ship experienced hull flooding, forcing the jettison of most cargo astern. Salvage operations were deemed poor, and the vessel was eventually abandoned and declared a constructive total loss. The site remains a charted underwater obstruction in the vicinity of existing hazards in this coastal region.
