The wreck of the Lee James is located at coordinates 51 48.13 N, 1 0.097 E off the coast of Essex near the mouth of the River Colne. This underwater obstruction sits in a large scour hole where the vessel came to rest completely upside down following a total loss event in 1978. While historically noted as a sunken wreck, the Lee James was salvaged by Eurosalve Ltd in September 1978 and its status has been amended to lift. The site was previously identified in proximity to the SS Lowlands wreck symbol. Today, the location is categorized as no chart action required due to the completion of salvage operations.
