Simplified Wreck Survey

The UK Hydrographic Office wreck records show the historic underwater obstruction known as the Kildale, located off the coast of North East Scotland in the North Sea at coordinates 57 45.384 N, 1 45.103 W. Initial reports of the position were documented during World War II, followed by an ASDIC sonar contact recorded in December 1944. Subsequent hydrographic surveys charted the site as a dangerous wreck with a reported depth of 45 meters. During modern multibeam bathymetric surveys conducted in September 2010 by Gardline Hydro, the site was not located on the seabed, leading hydrographers to amend the status of the obstruction to dead and delete it from active navigational charts.
