Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck KASKO is located off the coast of County Durham, England, near Hartlepool at coordinates 54 44.616 N, 1 15.897 W. This historic wreck is situated on the rocky foreshore and is firmly embedded in the coastal seabed. Originally reported as a vessel that ran aground with masts and funnel visible, the site has significantly deteriorated over time. Modern surveys describe the wreckage as consisting of well-broken structural components, including scattered ribs, steel plates, and remnants of a boiler. The site dries 2.2 meters at low water and is not visible from seaward, making it a challenging site for marine navigation. Historical recovery efforts at this location included the removal of an anchor for a local community centre. Due to its position in very shallow water, the site remains inaccessible for standard hydrographic survey vessels.
