Circumstances of loss

BUILT IN 1810 AT CHESTER. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY RAWLE & CO. REGISTERED IN PLYMOUTH. PASSAGE PLYMOUTH FOR QUEBEC. GENERAL CARGO AND EMIGRANTS. STRUCK THE MANACLES AND WAS CARRIED OVER BY A HEAVY SWELL. ANCHORED IN SHALLOW WATER. CAPTAIN RAWLE, FOUR CREW AND ONE WEALTHY PASSENGER LEFT THE VESSEL BY BOAT SAYING THAT THEY WOULD GET HELP BUT NEVER RETURNED. TOTAL OF 193 PASSENGERS AND CREW DIED AS VESSEL BROKE UP. RAWLE WAS SENT TO PRISON.
