The underwater wreck JARKU is located in the waters of the Riau Islands (Kepulauan Riau), Indonesia, situated between Singapore and Sumatra at coordinates 0 17.25 S, 104 1.133 E (0° 17.250' S, 104° 01.133' E). First reported in October 1994 as a dangerous wreck with an approximate position, early maritime reports confirmed the marine obstruction near the Riau Archipelago. A hydrographic review of Indonesian Notice to Mariners later identified a translation error where the latitude was mistakenly listed as North instead of South. The location was officially corrected in January 2001 to latitude 0° 17.250' S and longitude 104° 01.133' E. This hazardous submerged obstruction remains a key point of reference on nautical and hydrographic survey charts for navigation in the waters between Sumatra and Singapore.
