Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck of HMS Whooper lies off the coast of Lowestoft in the North Sea at coordinates 52 15.936 N, 1 42.472 E. Sunk during World War I, this historic underwater wreck was first located in December 1984 and later examined in September 2016. The largely intact, partially buried steel wreck measures approximately 33 meters in length, 8 meters in width, and 4.3 meters in height, oriented at 089/269 degrees. It rests in a general water depth of 16 meters, featuring a least multibeam depth of 13.21 meters and a surrounding scour length of 56 meters. Local fishermen identified the site as the HMS Whooper, and graves of the ship's company are located in the Southwold churchyard.
