Circumstances of loss

THOUGHT TO HAVE BEEN SCUTTLED, PROBABLY IN 1896, TO BLOCK THE CHUBB CUT CHANNEL. HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN USED AS A HULK, AFTER REMOVAL OF ALL MASTS AND RIGGING, FOR HOUSING DOKYARD LABOURERS. WAS THE FIRST TWIN SCREW AND THE FIRST 'COMPOSITE' VESSEL IN THE ROYAL NAVY. (SRN).
