Surveying Details H1291/77 2.9.77 H1291/77 2.9.77 SCATTERED WKGE LOCATED BETWEEN 19.6.77 AND 1.7.77 DURING SEARCH FOR REMAINING UNDISCOVERED WRECKS OF SIR CLOUDESLEY SHOVELL'S FLEET: THE 'ROMNEY' AND THE 'FIREBRAND'. NUMEROUS ARTIFACTS, INCLUDING 15 LARGE CANNON [2.7MTRS LONG], 16-18 SMALL CANNON [0.8MTRS LONG], CONCRETED CANNON BALLS, BAR AND GRAPE SHOT, LEAD SOUNDING WEIGHT AND NUMEROUS BALLAST WEIGHTS. MOST WERE FOUND BETWEEN DAISY AND PEDNATHISE HEAD WITHIN A RADIUS OF 300MTRS OF POSN 495148N, 062404W [OGB]. COULD ALSO BE THE REMAINS OF 'ROYAL OAK' [1665], LARGE VESSEL SUNK IN 1679, LARGE VESSEL SUNK 1750, OR FRENCH FRIGATE OF 36 GUNS [1780]. (LT CDR G N GREENER, 771/12/1 17.8.77). NCA, POSN FOR FILING ONLY. HH100/351/21 29.7.04 HH100/351/21 29.7.04 BLACK ROCK CANNON SITE LOCATED IN 4951.825N, 0623.919W [WGD] USING DGPS & MAGNETOMETER. DESCRIBED AS LOTS OF CANNON SCATTERED DOWN THE SIDE OF A DEEP REEF, UP AGAINST A SQUARE ROCK. (J ROSEVEARE/G FURSE TELECON 12.7.04) NCA, EXISTING SCALES TOO SMALL.
