THIS IS PROBABLY THE WK OF HMS JUPITER. MINIMUM DEPTH 6MTRS IN GEN DEPTH 14MTRS. LIES ON ITS SIDE AND IS VERY BROKEN UP. A LARGE GUN (?6 INCH) IS IDENTIFIABLE AT THE STERN AND MANY MUNITIONS, STILL IN CRATES, AROUND THE MIDSHIPS. LOTS OF NETS. BOWS LIE TOWARDS APPROX 70 DEGS.(V SKOGLIE, EMAIL DTD 10.9.00). AMEND TO WK 5MTRS IN REVISED POSN. BR STD. HH100/351/23 27.6.05 PREVIOUS DETAIL VERIFIED BY LOCAL FISHERMAN WHO HAD DIVED THE WK. FISHERMAN ALSO STATED THAT IN SEPTEMBER WHEN TIDES ARE LOW, THE MAST IS VISIBLE ABOVE THE SURFACE. (S DOUGLAS-PENNANT, EMAIL DTD 24.6.05). NOTED ABOVE THAT WK LIES ON SIDE. RETAIN AS WK 5MTRS. NCA. BUILT IN 1938 BY YARROW & CO. 3 DRUM BOILERS AND TURBINE ENGINES OF 40000 SHP FOR 36 KTS. SIX 4.7 INCH, SIX SMALLER GUNS. 10 TORPEDO TUBES. TORPEDOED AND SUNK DURING THE BATTLE OF THE JAVA SEA. 4 OFFICERS AND 91 RATINGS KILLED. OF THOSE RECOVERED, 27 DIED IN CAPTIVITY.
