Circumstances of loss
BUILT IN 1936 BY J S WHITE & CO. CAPSIZED AFTER BEING HIT TWICE, PRESUMABLY BY BOMBS, DURING GERMAN AIR RAID AT LEROS HARBOUR. 15 MEN LOST. (DODS, SHIPS OF THE ROYAL NAVY). AFTER CARRYING TROOPS TO LEROS, WAS ATTACKED ALONG WITH GREEK DESTROYER 'QUEEN OLGA' BY GERMAN JU-88'S WHILE AT ANCHOR IN THE HARBOUR. THE GREEK SHIP GOING DOWN AND INTREPID FOLLOWING HER NEXT DAY WHEN SHE CAPSIZED. (THE WAR AT SEA WWII). SEE 'VASILISSA OLGA'.
